Maduganga environs have a scenic beauty which can’t be matched to any other place in this area in many aspects. It has its own uniqueness especially due to the location of large number of islets both small & big within the estuary. Located close to tourist towns like Hikkaduwa, Bentota & Ahungalla make Maduganga an obvious choice for tourists who are interested in seeing wetland environments. Different vegetation types such as mangroves, marsh (in the upper reaches) are characteristic to this environment. Water birds which are invariably a feature of attraction for tourists can also be abundantly observed. Further it is interesting to observe fisherman using the traditional out rigger canoes to catch fish.There is grate potential for the development of the Maduganga estuary for eco-tourism.
